Arcade Games Vs Console Games

Arcade+Games+Vs+Console+Games

Today, in the year of 2016, for entertainment purposes, we have television, YouTube, Netflix, and video games. But the video games are all different. There are PS4’s, Xbox One’s, Wii U’s, PC’s, and even last-gen consoles. These are the video games that we currently have in our lives, but when was the last time you heard someone talk about an arcade?

What is an arcade? It is what video games were like back when your parents were your age. They did not have Playstation or Xbox or PC games. Instead, they went to the arcade with their friends and played on machines that cost money to play every time. Sometimes you can get tickets at the arcade by winning certain games and those tickets are used for prizes at the ticket booth. The more tickets you earn, the better the prizes. But which video game style is more fun to play and enjoy? Arcades or Consoles?

First, let’s talk about today’s home console games. We have Playstation, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo, and many other consoles that are used for home entertainment today. We have so many game series being created like Call Of Duty, Halo, Grand Theft Auto, Forza, Fallout, and even Minecraft. But most of these games have something that they all almost share. Today 8 year olds are playing Call of Duty and they do not seem to care at all about all the blood, rage, trolls and bad language from other players. The bad thing about it is that because of that, those kids may start to behave poorly from playing violent video games.

Now let’s go back to the 80’s where we had the great arcade games. Those were the days where your parents would go to the arcade with their friends, and kids could go out on their own without adult supervision. Today you can’t go to the store that’s 5 blocks from your house without your parents following you. The great thing about arcade games are that they require coins to play the game. It is about a group of kids coming together and going to the arcade to have fun.

The games your parents grew up playing were Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Defender, Tetris, Frogger, Q-Bert, Swat, and Digger. Those were the games that your Mom and Dad loved to play when they were our age. That was the age of video games, but what they do not have that today’s video games have are blood effects. These classic games are the ones that 8 year olds who are playing Call of Duty should be playing instead because they are more age appropriate and maybe more fun for them.

So, we have gone over the classic arcade games that all the adults love and enjoyed when they were our age, and we have gone over our generation of home console games. The arcade games had no blood or killing, but today’s video games do and more violent. Which do you think is better for our generation of humans right now? The arcade games that get you out of the house to go hang out with your friends, or the console games that keep you focused on the T.V. at home with no interaction with your friends, except over a microphone and camera? The choice is yours, choose wisely for the sake of our lives and for the young ones. But most of all, enjoy playing video games.
