This winter has been full of many nasty illnesses. Many were sick and spread their colds and viruses to others. Some of the main sicknesses going around are the common cold (as usual), influenza, pneumonia, and sinus infections.

It’s easy and the power is in each and everyone’s hand to stop the spread of all respiratory infections.”

— Dr. Sawyer

No one really knew what was wrong with them, because everyone seemed to have the same symptoms yet we had different diagnoses. What is concerning is that viral illnesses cannot be cured with antibiotics. They’re usually cured by pain relievers, rest, and fever reducers. Will Sawyer, an Infection Prevention Expert, said “Prepare your home, facility, and school against a flu epidemic this year! It’s easy and the power is in each and everyone’s hand to stop the spread of all respiratory infections.”

If you take your vitamins and work out, it not only keeps you fit, but also lowers your risk of getting sick. Another helpful tip is to drink green tea with a splash of honey, which can help to speed up your recovery. Dr. Sawyer also said, “Do not touch the T Zone (eyes, nose, or mouth)! Remember—it is the only portal of entry into the human body for all respiratory and G.I. infections!  Adults don’t seem to grasp this concept!  Please children, teach them the correct method of coughing and sneezing into their elbow or a tissue!” Now let’s stay healthy, and avoid the nightmare of getting sick!
