Kevin Greene Multi Purpose Field Opens 9-9-22
October 3, 2022
Granite City High School’s new Million-dollar athletic facility just had its grand opening on Friday September 9th 2022. The Kevin Greene Multi purpose facility will be used for football, soccer, and the marching warriors when needed. The turf dedication started off with the cutting of the ribbon on the new field. The ribbon was cut by students Aleah Crenshaw, Ella Hickam, Gwen Hale, Chris Taylor, Alex Weaver, Maddox Kennedy, Catelynn Liniger, Sky Augustin, Mia Gudino, Maurice Dotson, and Hannah Avants.
The 9th was the very first football game on the Granite City High School turf field. On the far side of the turf field it says, “Granite city”, and on the right side it says “Warriors” with a big GC in the middle of the playing field. The track team will also get a new pole vault pit next to the bleachers. June 1st is when they closed the Kevin Greene field to work on the turf. It took them about 3 and a half months to work on the field and got it done just in time for the first home football game of the season. The new playing field will improve lots of Granite City sports and games.
