Friday Night Lights are back and so is the Granite City football team. The Football team has been working hard for the last year to prepare for the 23’ season, Over the summer Granite City Football has gone through rigorous challenges. Demanding conditioning and full out restructuring. After year one with the new head coach, coach Lyons. The Granite City Warriors took a 1-8 record with the only win being against the Madison Trojans. One of the star stand out players Broc Rodgers, said “We all know this season didn’t turn out how we wanted it. But we’re gonna come back even better next year.” 

With new additions to the team such as new plays and equipment, Granite City football looks to be a force of nature. Going into the start of the season students of Granite City High school thought otherwise. People from all different sports gave the Warriors a taste of what they as a fan base thought. Things like, “We’re one in eight again.” And, “I don’t believe we are going to be good this year.” Became insecurities the Warriors had to bear. Until August 25, 2023. The Warriors took their first loss of the season against the O’Fallon Panthers. 

Now many would think this means nothing has changed for the Granite City Warriors, but GC football players are not just Warriors, they are a family. And what’s a Warrior without a tribe? Today marks the day they change their fates, because we are one!
