Big Brother

Allie Ryan, Staff Writer

Looking for a new show to pass some time this summer? Well, Big Brother is coming back for its 17th season! Based on the Dutch series Big Brother, thirteen strangers live in a studio-like house filled with cameras and microphones, and compete in a series of physical and mental stunts and some challenging trivia at a chance at $500,000. In this reality soap opera-like summer program, thirteen of those house guests all come from thirteen different states. America watches every single move they make to be the last one standing.

Every week they compete in challenges and the losing “team” must evict one member. They may evict their best friend or worst enemy in that group.”

These strangers are contestants who think they have absolutely nothing in common, and a few are in a shock for their lives. The house guests soon begin to introduce other people at the Big Brother house and the thirteen live in the same house for the following two months. Every week they compete in challenges and the losing “team” must evict one member. They may evict their best friend or worst enemy in that group. If the participant wins his or her stunts, then the player will be named “Head of the Household” for a day. The guest who stays in the house longer than anyone else wins $500,000.
Auditions started last fall and hit many cities including Chicago, Dallas, Cincinnati, Denver, Albuquerque and 14 others.
Following a serious upgrade to the Big Brother house which brought High-Def to the viewers for the first time in the series’ history it was a double confirmation of CBS’s faith in the show’s staying power to have not one, but two seasons ordered up. CBS has announced the Big Brother 17 start date is June 24, 2015 with a two-night season premiere. The Season 17 schedule will feature three nights a week with episodes on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Will you be watching?
