There’s no surprise that here in Granite City, we have many talented female athletes. So far, nine senior Lady Warrior athletes have been lucky enough to receive college offers gaining an opportunity to continue their sports career beyond GCHS.

Never forget: Once a Warrior, always a Warrior.”

The list includes: Allie Ryan, Women’s Soccer — McKendree University; Andrea Hyde, Women’s Track—Illinois College; Bella Perkins, Cheerleading—McKendree University; Erynn Cotter, Cheerleading—McKendree University; Haley Davis, Women’s Soccer—Culver Stockton College; Kori Nesbit, Women’s Cross Country and Track—Greenville College; Mallory O’Gara, Women’s Golf—Illinois College; and Shelby Winn, Women’s Soccer—Culver Stockton College.

This year was their last chance to live up to their full potential at the high school level and many have already exceeded this with many outstanding accomplishments. Kori Nesbit broke both the 1.5 and 3-mile Girls Cross Country school record this past fall. Mallory O’Gara also made a huge impact this year for the Lady Warriors Golf team, where the team broke all the previous school golf records! They had an outstanding season and finished with a record of 10-4! Erynn Cotter and Bella Perkins helped carry the GCHS Competitive Cheerleading team to many competition wins and a seventh place finish at state.

As for the others, they may have not started their last high school sports season as a Warrior but it’s right around the corner. There’s no doubt that this won’t be the last time we hear about these successful young ladies! Granite High World wishes them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Never forget: Once a Warrior, always a Warrior.
